Flaming Bloggers

If you read the UAE Community Blog or Secret Dubai Diary, you'll be aware of some down and dirty, and frankly at times disgraceful 'exchanges of views' in the comments on some articles in the last week (especially this). Like a moron I got drawn into some of these threads. For my pains I have been misunderstood, misrepresented and insulted by people who really ought to know better.

At the end of the day there is nothing, nothing at all that you can write will stop these trolls from writing their ignorant, prejudiced and abusive garbage. And there's something about the anonymity of the Internet that just erases all pretence of civility.

Oh dear Goodness.

I just went over to the link just now and realised Al-republicans comments mentioning me. I cant measure this persons height of ignorance. He has simply categorised me into something I'm not even close to.

This is fooking hillarious. I was dragged into an argument I simply wasnt even a part of.

It does leave a very bitter after effect, doesn't it?

Not a good scene at all.

It's tempting to answer the infantile cretins, but I'm sure the right answer is simply to delete their garbage.

SD's is one perennially boiling kettle. Swore not to go there again, but you guys have just done this ambush marketing trick. Off goes Prometheus to discover slime.

Keefie, ya have my sympathy. Those losers at SD's collectively have the IQ of a single retarded lobotomized roach.

I must say, Keefie, I read through much of that blog the other day and I have a lot of respect for Secret. Clearly she does not believe in censorship and lives that belief... Had it been me, I would have dumped that trash out of my corner of the blogosphere.

Yeah - I made a big error - I should have deleted it and not reacted to it. It just upset me so much.

The problem is with "polite" trolls, like the one in today's entry. I don't like to delete them because I feel like I'm censoring, but it just sets everythign off on an angry tangent all over again. Honestly I didn't blog for several days, partly because I was so sick of it all, then I tried to pick a really tame, quirky subject to amuse myself more than anything, and lo! another one descends from on high (or under a stone or wherever they come from).

Thanks so much to everyone who posted in support. I'm getting to the stage where I think I should perhaps turn anon comments off :(

Well SD, there's censoring and then there's getting yourself wound up over a whole of nothing.

The next generation of trolls will be registered Blogspot users with better formulated but equally idiotic arguments, mark my words.

Keefie, hope you have learned the lesson well :-)

Secret Dubai, I think fame comes at a price. You cannot satisfy all the people all the time. Turn off the anon comments feature :-)

I've made a contribution to that posting too... I just couldn't not.

I'll not be going back to check on it.

I don't want to get flamed too!

So sorry I missed the day. It was just so CRAZY busy still is...
Do not be upset by the nonsense, it wasnt such a big deal to create such a whiplash of hate. I could've written it, and I didnt see anything offensive in it. I feel sorry for SD, I do not know if I could deal with so much nastiness.
