Firefox Blocked!

This is just unbelievable. I was trying to download Mozilla Firefox on BetterArf's laptop. You can get to the site ok, you can hit the 'download' button, and you can read and accept the terms and conditions. And then you get the pale blue screen of death.

It isn't just Firefox but any Mozilla product (as they're all off download.mozilla.org). I faced this issue a few days ago with Camino.

You can still of course get Firefox through Mozilla's FTP download servers: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ or http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5.0.7/win32/

Arvind: thanks for that. But why on Earth is download.mozilla.org blocked? What mysterious goodies are on there that Itisalot doesn't want us to have?

If I was to hazard a guess, Etisalat wants to prevent users downloading alternatives to IE. If you remember when Flickr was first banned, people said they got around the block by using Firefox. How they did it (and why they couldn't have done the same on IE) is beyond me because I've been using Mozilla stuff for years.

"people said they got around the block by using Firefox"

Partly true.
When I first installed firefox on my PC I experienced proxylessness for about 2 weeks.

aha..mozilla's google search is my homepage..so..you can imagine my reaction when I open my browser to see the 'blocked' page.

And as far as I know there still exists a browser which is proxyless..somehow i havent figured which one it is.

Gulf News: "Our objective is to provide a service with the highest quality standards and reliability which is what Etisalat has been always associated with. This is in contrast to current illegal VoIP services where quality standards are unreliable."

Yeah, right. And we all have the IQ of a lobotomized roach.

Yesterday I was trying to update Google Earth, and was shocked to see the download page blocked.

Keefie - love the site keep up the good work.

IN the UK I found out about https://www.relakks.com/login.php which has an anonymiser which permits skype use amongst others. It costs 5 euro per month. I've been testing it for a few weeks. Its impeccable! Of course, I think their page may be locked too.
