Great News

It's reported today the HH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein has been elected President of the FEI (International Equestrian Federation). This is splendid news, but I don't think I'll be composing a haya-ku about it.

Yeah I read it in this morning's paper and was thrilled :) I remember we used to follow her news in tournaments ever since we were kids!

Harsha - Thanks for the link; that's a really interesting site. I think it's remarkable that it even exists, never mind with photographs and family histories. From brief newspaper items I know that some of the sheikhas here are active patrons of activities to do with families and traditional arts; and I would like to know more about these women. Did you see that Habiba Marashi has been appointed to the Global Compact Board? She says she's going to use her appointment as a platform to counterbalance the stereotype of the trapped and oppressed Arab woman by promoting the achievements of women like herself. Yes please.

Way to go Jordan!

(Too bad we don't see her often at Horseback riding tournaments anymore).
