Another Absentee

Hmm. I came across Essays In Idleness maybe a month ago. It was an infuriating blog by a Canadian who for some reason was working in Dubai. And clearly having a real hard time adjusting to it. I say it was infuriating because he never allowed comments on his posts, and most of what he wrote was crying out for clarification.

Anyway, he's gone.

The no-comments thing infuriated me too. I can't help feeling that the entire mindset that contributed to his 100% non-interactive blog (no email either) contributed in at least some part to the (unspecified) problems he suddenly had that accelerated his departure. Had he actually provided some means of contact, people could - and would - have been able to help out or at least provide advice.

Ditto the no-comment/infuriation thing.

While I enjoyed reading someone else's observations of Dubai, there were a few things that definitely need clarification - or at least a comment of some kind from fellow expatriates in the area....

...or as secretdubai mentioned, a word of advice to assist some of the topics of his 'blog bites'.

Further to strange bloggers, someone left a somewhat aggressively rude comment to you in my blog.

I don't know why they directed it at you and not me, given I wrote the entry and your comment was minimal and nothing offensive. Is this guy someone you've had interaction with in the past?

Let me know if you want me to delete it.

Hmmm. Don't know who this person is, but I've never seen a blog like it!
