Etisalat, We Love You Really*

I wasted a bit of time a few days ago doing an Etisalat survey. They are investigating the demand for faster broadband speeds - 4, 6 & 8 Megabippies are talked about. They ask how much I would be prepared to pay for this. Also what kind of 'gift' would I require as an incentive to upgrade - options range from a biro to a colour laser printer.

Ridiculous, and of course they don't give you any opportunity to vent your spleen about the existing shite service, whose speed never ever gets close to what it's supposed to be. Anyway, if they follow my suggestion, I'll soon be enjoying an 8 Megabippy connection for ten dirhams a month and driving around in a brand new Land Cruiser. I deserve it don't I (I've certainly nearly bloody paid for it over the last twelve years).

On a happier note, I was compelled to visit Etisalat yesterday because the barftuds had disconned my Interweb thingy. Amazingly, there was no queue! I pointed this out to the guy at the counter and he asked me if there'd been any big accidents on SZR that was stopping the punters from coming. I told him they'd all gone to du.

*I tell lies.

You really do hate Etisalat, don't you? Not that I don't, but you could start another blog for abusing Etisalat. And do offer membership to others too. I bet it would recieve more votes on TOOT.

Harsha I hope you answered along the lines of my suggestion;

What do you like most about Etisalat?

What do you dislike most about Etisalat?

The first one I did, but the second one was what you had earlier suggested...

You know what pisses me off?

They give out these stupid surveys and WASTE peoples time.

Seriously. Don't bother filling them out, or if you do, just do it to waste their damn time, I know they've wasted a good share of my time too.

Read some of the stuff on there, they've had surveys for freaking ever, and they haven't changed, which would lead me to believe that they never will.

Well, I don't get it, I stay all the way in Ajman..I initially had a 1MB ADSL conn and I always got full speeds. Now I downgraded to 512 and still get full speeds. I know this as I'm hopping from one torrent to another. I dunno about dialup, though.

I'm eagerly awaiting a free upgrade like they announced earlier.

keefieboy: yes, I believe they have completely given up with Etisalat, just goes to show, as much as anyone will try with them, they are NOT going to improve.

archer14: I have many friends that claim to get full speed on their internet connections, but it's not just about bittorrent/whatever, I use a very specialised tabbed browser, and at any time, I might open 30-40 seperate tabs in the space of 30 seconds, my computer doesn't slow down, but I did find (6 months ago, but hey, etisalat never changes), that the connection would get completely hammered, whilst me connection here in Australia remains relatively strong (it is cheaper, but drops out at 3-4 AM for twenty minutes or so on occasion, if I call up my ISP and complain, they accept full responsibility)

It could be that there are a lot of servers allocated for Ajman of which very few are pushed to the limit. The only real problems I've faced is the connection getting bumped, i.e, redialing is futile in order to reconnect. Only way is to unplug the USB and reconnect. This happens usually during daytime while I'm away at work.

Keef, did you get any feedback from Etisatwat about the Friends Reunited site being blocked?
