Etisalat's ridiculous Proxy has blocked this cookery site:

Can't wait to get into my office and find out what juicy horrors have caused this to be blocked!

type in the URL there, it is the blocklist Etisalat uses.

they list it as "Education/Reference, Nudity"

Sam beat me to it :-)

Anyway, looking at the blurb for the domain on google we get:
Contemporary watercolor and oil paintings by American artist, Bill Murphy.

Can we assume that he has maybe painted a nude at some point thus leading to the blocking of the entire domain??

Another excellent filtering job by Etisalat. You'd better get the Beef Wellington recipe/image elsewhere!!

Yeah - the front page of his site has the word "nudes" on it. Ffs.

Looks quite a tasty recipe. Email me if you want any of the site screenshot or cut and paste.

you can vote for the site to be re categorized, but i know a friend who's site was categorized as criminal skills, even though it had nothing to do with it, though it did look dark and mysterious, he emailed and emailed, and it took like 6 months, and they eventually changed it, and he got unblocked

Do any of you google something, find its blocked than go and have a look at the page though 'cached'. Sometimes works..

the only problem with google cache is that it is text only, no images, which i'd imagine may be essential for cooking. or not.

there are some ways around the proxy for websites etisalat particularly hate, not the cookery one though.

Try using these proxies to access blocked sites... They work for me here in Qatar.

I keep coming up with parts of eBay Motors that is blocked...go figure, and don't get me started on the Flickr! thing. Your office must be in a free zone, but the rest of us poor saps have to live with the insanity.

Do you know how I can copy the "blocked" webscreen that etisalat puts up when a site is blocked? I want to put in on my blog.

dxbbigus: hit the 'print screen' or 'prt sc' button on your keyboard. That places an image of the screen onto your clipboard. Then you can paste it into any image manipulation software - if you don't have any you can use M$ Paint.
